On February 10th, we had our monthly meeting at the church to continue preparations for our Mission Trip. We began hearing from Bailey how much money we have already raised from donations that we got as a result of the letters we sent to our families and friends. We have received nearly $700 already. THANK YOU!Then we went over group expectations which we all agreed to follow. These include understanding how to be safe while on the trip, being mindful and helpful of others in the group, how to behave, and lots more. We then began to discuss ideas about how we could promote our trip at the church. One idea was to create a display on our bulletin board showing a map of the Bahama’s in the ocean alongside an indicator that we fill in as we reach our progress in raising money. It would include facts about the trip, a timeline, trip costs per person, and how the money will be spent.
We ended our meeting by presenting some ideas to help raise money to pay for the trip. Sara and Rachael talked about a plan to hold a movie night at the church where we would have a concession stand. Alexis talked about plans to have BINGO/Bunco/Poker game nights. Ariana and Claire talked about holding a dinner party to introduce our trip to the parish and invite youth to perform theater and musical entertainment for the church.
